Old-Time Batavians know this home as the Windsor House after Mr. and Mrs. Herbert T. Windsor. Mr. Windsor was a prominent citizen of the time. The Windsors named the house “MidOaks” and the current owners retain the name.
The house was moved to its present location from McKee Street in 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Windsor spent the night of the move in their home in the middle of McKee Street. In 1990 an addition was built onto the house.
Because of the heavily wooded lot, the owners feel as though they live in a secluded cottage in the woods- removed from town, although they are on one of the busiest streets.
Placed throughout the grounds are various pieces of sculpture collected by the owners. Most pieces are by Fox Valley artists. Although too shaded to grow many flowers, the yard is maintained in a natural way so as to encourage the secluded cottage feeling.
Most of the antiques in the home are family pieces
