Italianate Victorian - 1858

Comments: Fabulous home that is a great example of this style of house. Curved stairway, period furnishings, high ceilings, spectacular remodeled kitchen, two stairways, huge second floor with wonderfully decorated bedrooms/bath; examples of owner’s own artwork. (She is a retired art teacher.) The home is very warm and detail-laden. The outside walk with picket fence and front porch are extremely welcoming. Major history to the house. It used to belong to one of the home owner’s parents. His family has been in Batavia going back to the 1835. There is a street named after the family. They have a copy of an article written about the house and its history. Encased in a glass table in the living room are examples of items found inside the wall during their renovation; old bottles and a hand-written “script.” This house has been a labor of love for this couple.
