Comments: This house is perfect for the Walk! It’s not only beautifully rehabbed, but it has lots of history. It is a late Victorian that had been in major disrepair only a few years ago. It was a very “spooky” looking house with raccoons living in the attic. It was well-known in the neighborhood. A builder bought it and rehabbed it. The outside is true the period and was painted a lovely warm, rich paint scheme.
Inside, the floor plan is open and spacious; very warm and casual with beautiful wood on the floor and “island” as well as earthy tones on the walls paired with nice, crisp white casings so that woodwork pops.
It has a fireplace in the family room and a sort of “urban farmhouse” feel to it. This house is not at all fussy and has a nice, welcoming feel to it. In addition to the tasteful exterior rehab, people are very curious about the interior of this house. The owners have had many people approach them and comment on their house. I think this house has “built-in” community interest because so many people are aware of the before-and-after state of this house. The builder will supply many before photos.
Here again, a great way to live in Batavia; rehab a house, keeping its charm and period in mind, yet beautifully making it functional for today’s needs.
